USC Tailbacks are Optimistically Optimistic

So I was reading this article today, and couldn't help but notice this:
How in the world does Southern California, with a depth chart that wound up 10 deep -- yep, that's 10 deep -- at tailback, convince high school All-American after high school All-American to sign with the school and believe, beyond a doubt, they'll play from the moment they step on the field?
Answer: Not possible.
"None of these guys are afraid of competition," says McNair, USC's running backs coach and special teams coordinator.
Yeah, either that or they're extremely stupid. And I'm leaning towards the stupid. These runnings backs would be considered "optimistic" and don't follow football too much because you can't put 10 Tailbacks on the field at the same time (but Photoshop makes it alot easier to see it that way!). Optimism is no longer the right term for this. Being optimistic is like having unprotected sex and hoping you're not looking at junior 3 years down the road.
These kids could be getting some play time at some other school, but chose USC because there seems to be something awfully attractive and it's not the Song Girls.
The No. 1 recruiting pitch most coaches use when selling their programs is playing time. Come to State U. and if you work hard enough, you'll play right away.
LIAR!
McNair and the USC staff said those identical words to four high school All-American tailbacks in 2006 and got every one to sign. A year later, they said the same thing to three more high school All-American tailbacks, including consensus No.1 recruit Joe McKnight. All three signed with USC to push the tailback depth chart to ridiculous proportions going into fall camp.
Which McKnight was dumb to do. LSU was pushing hard for the kid, and I would guarantee that he would've been a threat to all the teams in the SEC.
Wait a second, I didn't think about that. No one fucking plays defense in the PAC-10. All the exception of one, USC. Lucky for McKnight and the 9 other backfield teammates, they won't have to go up against that defense except in practice time.
The final line, USC is a joke anyways. I added the Aston Martin in my picture to further the ridiculousness. I got my money on the Martin becoming the starter before season kicks off. He doesn't cut too well, but he's got some wheels and really hits that hole hard.
Editor's Note: The picture I made is actually much larger than that, but Blogger is being a pain in my ass and won't let me post the full image. Check it out here.

Pete Caroll is nuts, there is no Reggie Bush carbon copy. 10 Tailbacks? I guess money does talk.
Yeah, 10 tailbacks is a little absurd. And it's not like he's signing bums, he really is signing All-Americans. How he tells each one that they'll see significant playing time on the field AND have them believe themselves is beyond me.
U MAD!
Oh, and as much as it hurts me to say it, UCLA will play defense this year, too.
Mmm... perhaps I'm giving the Bruins less credit than deserved. But no one is going to be as dominant on defense as USC. Returning 10 starters from a defense that didn't allow one 100 yard rusher all season.
That's ridiculous.
USC is a joke?
Mmmmmkay.....sounds like someone's got a little bit of tailback envy.
hate to quote stu scott... but 'hater in the house??'
Jake, I hate to contradict you, but Pete Carroll doesn't promise playing time to these kids, he promises competition. He tells them they can compete against the best players in the country on a daily basis, which will tend to arouse the competitive nature in a cocky 17 year-old.
Some kids find out when they get there that they might not to compete and they transfer (RB Michael Coleman, S Antwine Perez, DT Walker Lee Ashley). I don't blame them for wanting to play early, but to make a point, these kids are promised nothing but a chance.
Competition is what they promise and the endless pursuit of playing time, not the time itself...
you and those are agree with you are a special kind of stupid that mixes ignorance and jealousy and results in a childish immature mentality.
USC is at the top respect them
Uhh... no, I won't. And you obviously need to hit up a dictionary or a thesaurus because your grammar is all over the place.
I'm not ignorant, I understand the USC is a powerhouse in college football and used to be a "dynasty" long ago. They're in the limelight of the most ridiculous media coverage they get from ABC and ESPN. When they lose, these media outlets refuse to point out how the other team won, but how USC lost. That's probably why I'll continue to trash their team, because I'm saying what everyone else wants to.
This is probably a little beyond you. It's okay.
And yes, you can bag my groceries in plastic.
PS- This article was satire, in case you're wondering.
